(NVA) Service
Every day vulnerabilities ("holes") are found in many operating systems
and software that runs on your company network. Many of these security vulnerabilities
can be exploited by hackers.
To help maintain network security, TelePacific is pleased to announce Network
Vulnerabilities Assessment (NVA) Service. This optional service offers
added network security to customers purchasing our Internet T1, Bonded T1 and
Colo High Bandwidth services.
NVA service is a network scan that checks for vulnerabilities in your company’s
network while reporting any potential holes. It will report on liabilities like
improperly configured Windows file sharing and unauthorized network services
among other things. The service supports your business by providing consistent
network scans and reports--information vital to effective network security plans
and protection you may need to guard against system intrusion.
TelePacific offers three (3) levels of service (highlighted below). NVA scanning
occurs five (5) times per month and the results of each scan are e-mailed to
you in a detailed report with specific recommendations on solutions pertaining
to the results discovered.
The three levels of NVA service options include:
SpotScan™ - the basic level
of service offered where a network scan is performed to check for vulnerabilities
and unauthorized network activity in a customer’s network.
Brute force - NVA customers can
enhance their basic service with this trial and error method used by application
programs to decode encrypted data such as passwords or Data Encryption Standard
(DES) keys.
Denial Of Service (DoS) attack
is an incident in which a user or organization is deprived of the services of
a resource they would normally expect to have, such as e-mail. A denial of service
attack can also destroy programming and files. DoS is a service that checks
the customer’s network service to find out if it is prepared for such
an attack.
