1. What is DNS hosting? Short
for Domain Name Service, an Internet service that translates domain
names to IP addresses.
2. Can I register domainname.com?
You will need to utilize one of the following websites to check
availability for the domain name that you want to register:
- To determine availability, utilize a whois website
3. Where does one look to
see if TelePacific is hosting domainname.com? Look at the
"domain name servers" on the whois information. TelePacific's
authoritative domain name server information can be found on the
DNS customer tools page.
4. Can customers have their
own DNS servers? Yes
5. Does TelePacific offer
DNS secondary service? Yes. TelePacific is not currently
charging for this service but plans to at some point in the future.
Once you are turned up on TelePacific's network, please contact
our Customer Technical Support Center (CTSC) at 877-487-8349 and
select option #2 to have secondary DNS hosting setup.
6. How can customers reach
the DNS-Email-Web group at TelePacific? Call the Customer
Technical Support Center (CTSC) at 877-487-8349
and select option #2.

1. Will TelePacific need my
Registrar login information (i.e. username and password) to transfer
my domainname.com? Yes, once we have provisioned the domain
on our servers, we will provide you with the information necessary
to modify the current DNS hosting and technical contact information.
2. How long will it take my
domain name to transfer? Once TelePacific has spoken to
the contact with their Registrar login or received the correct login
information, your domain name transfer will promptly will be initiated.
3. Will my domain name automatically
transfer/port-over to TelePacific? No. TelePacific will
need the domain's user/account name and password to initiate a transfer
on behalf of a customer.
4. Will I have downtime with
my email or website when my domain transfers? If all domain
records will be pointing to the same email and web providers and
all zone file information is accurately recorded, there will not
be any email or website downtime.
5. Should the DNS transfer
coincide with the turn up date? No. A DNS transfer should
be completed prior to being turned up on TelePacific's network.
6. When do customers need
to make DNS IP changes? When email and/or web server(s)
are moved to another server with a different IP address or the IP
address of the existing server(s) changes.
7. Who makes the DNS records
or IP changes for a domain name? The DNS hosting company
makes DNS record changes for its customers. One can determine the
DNS hosting company by referencing the domain name hosting servers.

8. Who do I contact if I need
reverse DNS entries made? Call the Customer Technical Support
Center (CTSC) at 877-487-8349 and select
