Questions |
1. What is the difference between a DID trunk and a basic
phone line?
DID (Direct Inward Dialing) enables businesses to direct multiple
phone numbers to trunk groups, consisting of one or more trunks.
Basic phone lines, on the other hand, provide only one number per
line. DID trunks allow only for inbound calls while a business line
or SuperTrunk supports both outbound and inbound calls.
2. What advantage do DID analog
trunks have over regular business lines?
An advantage of DID analog trunks is that they allow you to have
multiple phone numbers (DID's) while utilizing the same trunks,
thus providing a more efficient use of the physical trunks ordered.
With lines you have to have a line for every phone number.
3. Does TelePacific's service support
remote call forwarding?
Yes. This feature is commonly used for businesses that have moved
outside of their existing rate center, but want to preserve their
existing phone number. It enables your clients and customers to
continue calling the phone number they are familiar with, while
the call is forwarded to your business' new location within a new
rate center. However, your business is responsible for paying all
associated usage charges on forwarded calls.
4. Who is responsible for getting
our telephone numbers?
TelePacific has been allotted phone numbers within our available
rate centers. As a new TelePacific customer, your dedicated Service
Engineer will be responsible for getting your new phone numbers
from our Number Administration Group. As a new customer you may
also have the option to port over your existing telephone numbers
provided they are within the same rate center.
5. What is a SuperTrunk or T1 Trunk?
T1 refers to a digital voice trunk that can accommodate up to 24
telephone lines or trunks. It consolidates the needs for separate
local trunks and lines.
6. Should I consider a T1 (SuperTrunk)?
Businesses requiring at least 18 or more voice-grade channels for
local or long distance calls or businesses that do approximately
$1000.00 per month in local and long distance calls should consider
a T1. T1's offer major economic advantages over alternative means
of access and are most cost effective when utilization is heavy
or near full capacity for extended times.
7. What is Interstate Long Distance
and how does it differ from other types of calling?
Interstate Long Distance refers to calls made from one state to
another. Interstate calling also refers to calls made to and from
Guam. Other call types include local calling (Zones 1, 2, &
3), regional calling (IntraLATA), long distance calling within a
state (Intrastate), and calling to foreign and off shore destinations
(International).
8. What is detariffing and why did
the FCC detariff Interstate Long Distance services?
One of the principal reasons behind the FCC's decision to detariff
interstate long distance services was to make the rates, terms and
conditions under which these services are offered more accessible
to consumers. Prior to detariffing, that information was only available
at the FCC or by visiting the offices of the various carriers. FCC's
detariffing order now requires that the rates, terms and conditions
under which all carriers provide interstate long distance be made
available on the carriers' web pages. This is intended to facilitate
comparison shopping by consumers. The same information will also
be available for inspection by customers and potential customers
at various sites selected by the carriers. In the case of TelePacific,
a copy of its Price List is available for inspection at its corporate
headquarters, located at 515 South Flower Street, 47th Floor, Los
Angeles, California 90071.
9. How does the detariffing of Interstate
Long Distance service affect my business?
The detariffing of interstate Long Distance Service will have no
immediate impact on your business since the elimination of tariffs
does not result in any change to the rates, terms and conditions
under which you are currently receiving service. However, detariffing
will give you more on-line access to information about the rates,
terms and conditions of all long distance service providers so that
you can compare their respective service offerings. Before detariffing
became effective, this information was only available at the FCC
or by going to each individual carrier to request it. TelePacific
has created special sections on its web page for customers and potential
customers to find out more information about our interstate long
distance offerings and the terms and conditions under which those
services are provided. View TelePacific's
Interstate Long Distance Rates/Regulations and Terms
& Conditions.
